The Katrina Haslip Law Technical Assistance Program (LawTAP) is part of the Center for Women & HIV Advocacy at the HIV Law Project. LawTAP was created in 1993 and dedicated in memory of Katrina Haslip, a fierce advocate for HIV-positive women. LawTAP continues Katrina’s legacy by training HIV-positive women to become effective advocates and participants in the HIV/AIDS public policy process.
LawTAP provides low-income, HIV-positive women the training and knowledge they need to become successful advocates for themselves on a range of legal issues including: government benefits, housing, family law and confidentiality. LawTAP also provides an overview of local, state and Federal policy-making processes and community organizing.

Katrina believed that HIV-positive women were their own best advocates and spokespeople. She also believed that a peer-based approach to outreach and advocacy was crucial to ending the HIV epidemic.
Law TAP continues Katrina’s legacy by providing low-income, HIV-positive women the training and knowledge they need to become successful advocates for themselves. Legal issues covered include: government benefits, housing, family law and confidentiality.
