The needs of families coping with HIV/AIDS have changed as HIV-positive parents live longer, healthier lives. Permanency planning legal services, once the single most important legal need of HIV-positive parents, is now only one of myriad legal problems HIV-positive parents must face in order to provide for and protect their children’s future.
HIV Law Project provides comprehensive family-centered legal services that combines the expertise of legal and social work professionals in a legal setting to help HIV-affected families – including newly blended families – resolve issues such as stable housing, income maintenance, access to medical and mental health care, and future care and custody planning so they can establish and maintain long-term family stability.
